Hi Dave. When I did my permaculture training in 2005 I met some cool people from Guelph, Ontario. It sounds like you have a very environmentally active community up there.

Mankato is a small city that has a vision and a plan to increase its quality of life. They actually have a plan which you can see here http://www.envision-2020.com/ . I am a member of the Energy Conservation Task Force which is planning the transition to an energy deficient environment. We have an active farmer's market and community gardens. We also are getting our first two CSAs this year. We are very excited about that. And a group of dedicated individuals are working on starting a food co-op in the town. While another group is working on legalizing urban chickens. As you can see there is a lot happening here.

Part of me understands why and part of me says why is this so difficult.
